Royal Seal Notary Public / Oshawa can assist with notarizing a Certificate of Origin. A Certificate of Origin is a declaration that states that specific goods being exported have been fully produced, manufactured, processed, or obtained in a specific country. It's often required by various organizations such as customs, importers, banks, or freight forwarders for the clearance of letters of credit.
To ensure its validity, a Certificate of Origin should be sworn in front of a notary public and then authenticated by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to obtain a valid notarized and authenticated Certificate of Origin:
1. Find the appropriate Certificate of Origin based on the destination country of your goods. You can search for "Certificate of Origin" on the Canadian Chamber of Commerce website and select the relevant form.
2. Fill out the Certificate of Origin, but don't sign it yet. Submit the unsigned document and proof of your company's registration in Canada (federal or provincial) to certification@chamber.ca. A clear PDF is preferred, but a picture will also be accepted.
3. Once you receive confirmation that your paperwork is in order, sign the Certificate of Origin in front of a notary public appointed by the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario.
4. Take the notarized documents to the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce at 21 Simcoe St S, Oshawa, ON L1H 4G1 or any Canadian Chamber of Commerce (Google the near office to you). You may also send the notarized documents via courier to the same address, along with all necessary documentation (Certificate of Origin, Proof of Registration, and a pre-paid return envelope).
5. The Canadian Chamber of Commerce charges $50 for 1-10 pages (check the link below for more information about the requirements and the fees)
